Michael L. Sarafin ’94 has started a new position as SME, Space Systems and Senior Aerospace Advisor at Teltrium Inc.
Michael is a highly respected aerospace industry subject matter expert with 33+ years of federal service and experience supporting 65 human spaceflight missions. Prior to retiring from NASA in 2025, Michael served in the Artemis program as Mission Manager and Mission Management Team (MMT) Chair for the successful Artemis I test flight. Before that, he spent 22+ years at NASA’s Johnson Space Center, beginning as a Guidance, Navigation & Control flight controller and later becoming a NASA Flight Director. From Mission Control in Houston, he planned, trained, and executed 64 human spaceflight missions supporting the Space Shuttle, International Space Station, and Orion during Exploration Flight Test-1.
At Teltrium, Michael provides technical leadership across spacecraft systems and ground segment elements, supporting development, testing, and operations.
Originally from upstate New York, Michael now lives on his farm in Virginia with his wife. Outside of work, he enjoys growing produce for consumers in Prince Edward County, cooking, mentoring aspiring engineers, and spending time outdoors with family and friends.
