Mr. Sarkis Balukjian was Born in Massena, NY in 1921. His brother, Albert Balukjian, was an esteemed Professor at Clarkson, as well. His Family is of Armenian descent & his direct cultural heritage involves both his mother and father fleeing genocide in the early 1900’s landing in Ellis Island (where both are registered) and eventually ending up in Massena, NY, which as you may or may not know has a Rich Armenian Heritage and welcomed these refugees so long ago. They worked in the original ALCOA plant and saved enough money to open and operate the “American Dry Cleaners” in Massena. Their business was a staple of our community for decades.
