From long hours in Clarkson’s labs to leading teams in industrial electrical manufacturing, Nicholas Radley’s journey shows how a strong foundation, real-world experience and a supportive community can shape a meaningful career.
Today, Nicholas is a Service Manager and Partner at N.E. Controls, LLC in Syracuse, NY. The same company he interned with during his junior year. After joining full-time in 2005, he’s watched the company grow from 6 employees to more than 40, designing and manufacturing custom electrical control panels for water and wastewater treatment systems and other industrial machines.
Nicholas now manages a team of 5 engineers responsible for field service, technical support and software development. He loves the custom nature of his work:
“I get to do something different every day. We’re constantly innovating to solve problems, provide power savings by improving machine efficiency, and protect one of our most important natural resources, clean water.”
He also pays it forward.
“We frequently hire Clarkson graduates and currently have a total of 10 alumni at the company.”
Nicholas credits Clarkson with preparing him exceptionally well:
“Excellent preparedness not only in knowledge but in industry and professional skills. Plus the reputation and prestige of a Clarkson degree.”
And what he remembers most isn’t just the coursework, it’s the people:
“I loved my experience at Clarkson. The atmosphere reminded me of a big family. Collaboration instead of competition, camaraderie forged by shared struggles. It was challenging but it prepared me well for a successful career.”
Why this matters for future Golden Knights:
If you want a career where you lead teams, innovate daily and serve communities through engineering, Nicholas’ story shows what’s possible. At Clarkson, you’ll build technical strength, professional readiness and a network that supports you long after graduation.
