Clarkson SARS-CoV-2 Webinar Series: Computational Modeling of Aerosol Transport

Presenters: Brian Helenbrook, PhD & Goodarz Ahmadi, PhD

June 10, 2020 @ 3:00 pm 4:00 pm EDT

Dr. Brian Helenbrook, Paynter-Krigman Endowed Professor in Engineering Science Simulation, and Dr. Goodarz Ahmadi, Robert H Hill Professor of Mechanical Engineering, are two experts in simulation and computational modeling at Clarkson University. Their research interests include developing predictive computational models for single and multiphase flows, including aerosol transport, dispersion, and deposition. With the availability of high power computers, computational modeling has become an important engineering tool for predicting the behavior of fluid flow in various industrial, environmental, and biological configurations.

Their talk on June 10 will address the new advances in the science of computational modeling and its applications to aerosol transport in indoor, outdoor and in human respiratory passages.   The issues with some of the commonly used software will be discussed, and the proper use of computational modeling for prediction of the aerosol transmission of SARS-CoV-2 virus will be described.
